FAQ
WHAT IS IT? You are looking at a piece of British handmade steel and bronze artwork that is cut from sheet steel and designed to hang on the wall as a picture. They have been designed and made by Richard Pell and his small team of skilled craftpeople.
HOW IS IT MADE? With over 30 year of creative metalworking experience, Richard Pell achieves stunning light reflective finishes using welding torches and surface polishers, all used by hand. He is literally painting with fire and using his own techniques to get these amazing natural colours. The colours will always remain vibrant due to a protective layer of lacquer.
WHATS SPECIAL ABOUT IT? Each piece has stunning and individual effects that appear to change under different lighting conditions almost giving movement to the surface as you view it from different angles. Richard Pell sign's each piece and has developed different patterns and techniques that gives each piece a unique quality.
HOW DO I DISPLAY IT? These are great fun to display around the house or in work premises. Apart from looking good displayed in obvious places either on their own or in groups they also hold their own in unusual locations. Why not liven up your living room, frame your fireplace, hang them in your hallway. Simply attach to the wall with a small nail or drawing pin. Attach to tiles or glass with double sided sticky pads or self adhesive Velcro.
HOW DO I CARE FOR IT? Each piece is lacquered to protect it from tarnishing in an indoor environment, so you don’t have to do anything except dust them occasionally. To clean them simply wipe down with a damp cloth.
CAN I PUT IT OUTSIDE? For outdoor use in British weather we recommend applying extra varnish. This can be sprayed on from an aerosol purchased in most DIY stores. Clean the product and practise spraying the lacquer or varnish on the back of the product, then apply several coats to the front following the instruction on the can.
ARE THEY SAFE FOR CHILDREN? These designs are not toys and should never be given to children to play with. However, if displayed safely out of reach, they may well be appreciated by children.
COLLECTING IT? There are over 200 different items available with new designs being added on a regular bases and older designs being removed. I am often hearing from people that are pleased they still own one of the older discontinued designs and are buying the latest designs to go with it. I think one of the lovely things about this collection is that it is always evolving. Every piece is signed and no two pieces are exactly the same.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY LOOKING AT MY WORK,. MANY THANKS, RICHARD PELL
